Friday nights with your friends…
So, how do you like to spend your Friday night? Frolicking in fancy frocks, drinking French champagne?
Usually when we think of a photoshoot, we think of a smiling family, holding hands walking along the beach. Or is it a new little baby, wrapped in a tight little ball and balancing in a basket. Or even weddings, graduations or that 1 year old cake smash.
These seem to be the milestones that are appropriate of professional photography, built into the fabric of our society, the real moments of our lives that deserve a photo shoot, right?
But, what about the all the other nuances of our lives, both the sad and the happy times, the relationships that get us through the every day stuff. The people that make our afternoon better with just one little text, “come around for a wine!!”
I inherently understand the importance of capturing our family milestones, it’s a feeling like no other, needing to commemorate and remember our little ones as they grow. This is usually the driving force behind hiring a professional photographer. To provide us with an authentic and artistic gallery of images, so we always have proof that they really were that tiny and they really did have that many freckles!
I do also however, understand the importance of acknowledging the other meaningful parts of our lives, the beautiful friendships that add merriment to the mundane. There are times in our lives, that things are far from perfect, but the love and support of those around us sweeps us up and gets us through.
These are the important relationships and the milestones, that are just as deserving of professional photography as that cake smash or newborn shoot.
I was so happy to be able to capture these images for my beautiful sister in law and her best friends. These are women that surround each other with love and support. They are there for each other when things get rough, and they turn to each other when they want to enjoy the good times. They embrace each others children as tightly as they hug their own. These are the relationships that make our lives more meaningful.
What could be a better subject for photo shoot than that.
